About the role
At fish in a bottle, we’re dedicated to creating meaningful, playful experiences, and we’re looking for an artist who shares our vision.
As a 3D Game Artist, you’ll play a key role in shaping the visual identity of our games, crafting vibrant, stylised environments and characters that immerse young players in magical worlds.
This role is more than just creating art, it’s about storytelling through design, capturing the essence of fun, wonder, and imagination in every asset. From early concepting and modelling to texturing, lighting, and final polish, you’ll have the creative freedom to bring ideas to life while maintaining a beautiful visual style.
Whether it’s designing whimsical characters, building engaging environments, or refining playful animations, your work will directly impact how young audiences experience our games.
What you'll be doing
Your work will be at the heart of our game, creating magical, immersive experiences that captivate and inspire young players.
- Concepting and visualising ideas, transforming creative briefs into compelling 3D assets that shape the game’s world.
- Creating high-quality 3D models, including characters, environments, and props, that align with the game’s stylised aesthetic.
- Developing and applying textures and materials, bringing depth, colour, and personality to your creations.
- Optimising assets for seamless performance across mobile, browser, and other platforms.
- Collaborating with designers, developers and other artists to ensure a cohesive and visually engaging final product.
- Implementing assets into Unity, working alongside developers to integrate animations and interactions.
- Refining and iterating on assets based on feedback, ensuring consistency with the overall game aesthetic.
- Staying up to date with industry trends and best practices to bring fresh ideas and innovation to our projects.
What we're looking for
- Exceptional 3D modelling skills, with experience in creating characters, environments, and props for games.
- Strong proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Maya, Blender, or similar 3D software.
- A keen eye for stylisation, with a strong understanding of colour, shape, composition, and visual storytelling.
- Experience with texturing, UV mapping, and material creation, ensuring assets are both visually stunning and efficient for real-time rendering.
- An understanding of optimisation techniques, ensuring assets perform smoothly across different platforms without sacrificing quality.
- A collaborative mindset, working closely with game designers, developers, and UI artists to deliver a cohesive, polished final product.
- A portfolio showcasing high-quality, stylised, child-friendly 3D art - this is essential!
- Bonus points if you have: experience working in Unity, knowledge of animation workflows or experience creating and implementing UI elements.
